Creating a Fitness & Wellness Destination in Catskill, NY – SWEAT Exercise Studio

Matt Lebowitz and Jamie Hyer are committed to the fitness of our Greene County community. Jamie has been a healthcare professional in the field of Occupational Therapy for over 20 years.  A key focus of her work is Brain Injury Rehabilitation, assisting people with traumatic brain injuries to return to their community as functioning citizens.  She has been a fitness instructor for over 15 years – specializing in group fitness, personal training and life skills.

Matt has been an avid athlete and sports enthusiast for his entire life.  This former college football player and veteran of the United States Coast Guard is a certified personal trainer, MetaFit instructor, and certified nutritional counselor.  He relocated to Greene County in 2004 (returning to his wife’s childhood home) and has been and adjunct instructor at Columbia-Greene Community College since 2007.  He also serves as coach for the Catskill High School Boys JV Soccer Team.

Matt and Jamie have joined forces to bring their combined experience and expertise to SWEAT Exercise Studio, on the former site of the Old Mill tavern near the 9W approach from Jefferson Heights. This beautifully open space not only offers great views of the Catskill Creek backed by our mountain vista, but serves as a Field Goods delivery location for fresh farm-to-table produce, locally grown for healthy eating choices.

The studio operates on Jamie’s core belief that: “We all must appreciate that we are each unique, and should not be subject to “challenges” or pressures to be something that we are not.”

When it comes to fitness, each person has their own capabilities, their own thresholds, their own goals. While it is important to be encouraged to perform at one’s maximum potential to get the results, and to be coached on how to begin & maintain a healthy diet, we should not consider establishing ‘fitness as a lifestyle’ a competition. Support + Education = Results.

Ribbon CuttingMembers of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce joined friends and family for an Open House and Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, October 19th, where the community was encouraged to take part in the many courses and programs available at SWEAT. The new Exercise Studio at 609 Main Street, Catskill, operates seven days a week with classes starting as early as 5:45 AM and running as late as 8:00 PM.
