Chef Andrew “Drew” Tobin spent years cooking professionally and traveling around the country before realizing the place he wanted to build something of his own was closer to home in New York State.

Just two years after opening on Main Street in Catskill, Gallery 495 has entered into a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Running June 20 through August 9, the dual exhibition—Paradise Found: Contemporary Paintings by Lauren Sansaricq—will feature about 20 paintings displayed at both Gallery 495 and Thomas Cole’s historic 1839 Studio. The project marks the first time one of America’s most significant historic artist sites—a destination that draws visitors from across the country and around the world—has partnered in this way with a private contemporary gallery.

After careers revitalizing properties in Brooklyn, brothers Michael and Greg Arnold felt the call of the Catskills. In 2018, they purchased a mid-century motel along Route 23A in Catskill, rolling up their sleeves and setting out to bring it back to life with a full-scale renovation.

Having successfully launched seven businesses across Westchester, New Paltz, Kingston, and Saugerties, her latest endeavor — Loomie’s Luncheonette — adds fresh momentum to the northern end of Main Street.
