Less than a week after opening, The Art Hub on Main Street, Cairo, has already sold out two art classes.
In recent years, the Cairo business district has seen tremendous growth with the addition of a brewery, three bakeries, an ice cream parlor and more. On January 3rd, a new type of business made its debut.
The Art Hub, founded by Yuliya Benoit, is a creative space for artists and the general public alike. The multi-media art center has an open studio for pottery painting and acrylic painting and offers a variety of classes and workshops.
In fact, The Art Hub’s first class, on Alcohol Ink Art, sold out within 24 hours, Yuliya said.
“The community’s response has been very overwhelming,” she said. A second class was added and that too sold out the following day.
Yuliya serves on the board of the Cairo Development Foundation, a non-profit organization with the mission of revitalizing Main Street Cairo. With a background in fine arts, an art center was the perfect contribution for Yuliya to make to the community.
In the coming months, The Art Hub will be holding a paint and sip event and a basket weaving class. The space is also available for birthday parties and corporate events. Yuliya hopes to add glass fusion kits and clay to the open studio, as well as a retail section of art supplies. The Art Hub also has a selection of handmade home goods and art from artists in Greene, Columbia and Ulster counties.
Stop by The Art Hub to try your hand at something new Wednesday – Sunday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
