Django Houston and Heather Williams came back to the Catskills, where their love story began, and created a space where other love stories could begin.
Heather grew up playing in the streams around her childhood home in Palenville, where she met Django when they were both 14. The couple reconnected 9 years later, and returned to the area where their journey first began to embark on a new journey: a wedding venue on 38 pristine acres in Round Top.
Living Stone, which hosted its first wedding last summer, features a 1,200 square-foot timber frame pavilion, a bluestone patio overlooking the waterfalls and forest, two different altar spaces, seating for 100 people, 12 handcrafted farm tables, 3 fire pits and two handicapped accessible bathrooms, as well as a rental apartment suite.
Heather, who also owns Pippy’s Food Truck, offers catering service with either prefixed or custom menus. Couples can also opt to bring in an outside caterer, who will have access to the onsite state-of-the-art catering kitchen. All of the structures on the site are built in beautiful harmony with the surrounding landscape, thanks to Django’s expertise as a stone mason.
“We created this space intentionally in harmony with the natural surroundings,” Heather said. “It’s less of a venue and more of a natural space.”
To keep things more intimate and personal, Living Stone only books one wedding per weekend.
“It’s been really gratifying to facilitate so much joy in our space and to make people’s dreams come true,” Heather said.
The property also has WiFi, a sound system, a golf cart and driver to transport wedding guests, and plenty of parking.
Heather and Django offer additional experiences in collaboration with local businesses. For example, a couple can choose to book a yoga session with local yoga instructors, go on a guided hike with Rip Van Winkle Adventure Guides or a sound bath with Concettina’s Song of the Cosmos.
Other add-ons include supplies for s’mores and camping- either with rental equipment or with personal equipment.
In addition to weddings, Heather and Django have started hosting some public events, such as their Supper Club events and a recent Mother’s Day Brunch. For information about upcoming events, sign up for their newsletter.
